Detailed below are the troubleshooting steps to test your walk-in tubs door seal:

Testing the Walk-In Door Seal

Apply Vaseline to the door seal, close the door, and lock the handle. Leave it closed for a couple of minutes and then open it. If there are any spaces on the door opening where the Vaseline did not hit, you should be able to see it.

Repairing the Door Seal

Applying heat with either a blow dryer or a heat gun will usually allow the door seal to recover its original shape.

Replacing the Door Seal

Remove the door seal and clean all silicone from the door and door seal channel. Lay the new door seal in the channel without any silicone and cut it to the proper length. Pull the seal out and apply masking tape on all sides of the channel. Apply silicone to the channel. Starting at one end, push the door seal into the channel all the way around the door, using tape in some areas to help keep the seal in place. Apply a bead of silicone around both sides of the seal and remove any excess. Remove tape and clean the area as needed.
